Historic win for Mingoes on International Tour
After a scoreless draw in their first match, the University of The Bahamas Mingoes men's soccer team showed no mercy in a historic 9-2 victory over Millennia Atlantic University (MAU) Macaws in Miramar, Florida.
The nine goals were historic as it was the most goals scored in the program's history. Freshman and defender Alix St. Hilaire scored the historic goal when he connected with a header on a corner from Kevin Thomas just before the end of the game. The previous record was eight goals that were done last season against University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles.
The match saw midfielder and captain Ronaldo Green and striker Stanley Grand Pierre picking up a hat-trick each. Thomas and O'Bryan Hinds scored one goal apiece.
Thomas seized his opportunity in the first minute of the game to set the tone of the game. Green scored two goals after that. Grand-Pierre joined the party to put away his first goal just before half-time to give the Mingoes a 4-0 lead at the end of the first half. They never looked back as they avenged their 9-2 cumulative loss to the Macaws last season.
This game also marked the team's sixth straight game without a loss in international play.
