FUT Prep, Skill Saw victorious in inaugural Mingoes Cup
The inaugural University of The Bahamas Mingoes Cup soccer tournament is in the books and FUT Prep won the Under-23 tournament while Skill Saw came out on top to secure the Over-30 tournament.
FUT Prep never dropped a match en route to winning the final 3-1 over RGA Strikers at the old Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium. Skill Saw took down Stagger Lees 4-2 on a penalty shootout after ending 1-1 in regulation.
FUT Prep were too much to handle in the group stage as they came away with the maximum 12 points. The final saw them going up 2-0 before RGA pulled one back to make it 2-1. FUT Prep were able to extend the lead to 3-1 just before the full-time whistle blew.
UB fielded two teams in this category but did not make the finals.
Stagger Lees came out unscathed in the group stages. They had the momentum at the start of the game and went up 1-0. Skill Saw, having lost to them in the group stage, evened the game up at 1-1. Skill Saw put away all but one of their penalty-kicks. Stagger Lees on the other hand showed fatigue as they only scored two from the penalty spot.
